Hold onto your hats, Metroidvania fans! After what feels like an eternity of waiting, Team Cherry has finally dropped some concrete news about the highly anticipated sequel to Hollow Knight, “Hollow Knight: Silksong”! Announced way back in 2019, the game has been shrouded in mystery for years, but during a surprise indie showcase in December 2024, we finally got a release window: early 2026!

The new trailer showed off even more of Hornet’s acrobatic moves and the stunning, intricate world of Pharloom. It looks absolutely gorgeous, building upon the already incredible art style of the original while introducing a whole host of new enemies, bosses, and environments to explore.

For those who might be new to the hype, Silksong puts you in the role of Hornet, the fierce protector of Hallownest, as she gets captured and taken to a mysterious new kingdom ruled by silk and song. Expect the same tight platforming, challenging combat, and deep lore that made the first game such a massive critical and commercial success.

While “early 2026” is still a bit of a wait, this official release window is a huge relief for the dedicated Hollow Knight community. The anticipation has been building for years, and now we finally have a light at the end of the tunnel. You can bet that the moment Hollow Knight: Silksong finally drops on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, the Metroidvania world is going to be buzzing!
