Great news for all you Hollow Knight fans who’ve been patiently (or impatiently!) waiting! Team Cherry, the Aussie indie devs behind the critically acclaimed metroidvania, have finally given us a release window for the highly anticipated sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong! Announced during a surprise indie showcase in early June 2025, the game is slated to launch in Fall 2025 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Silksong puts you in the role of Hornet, the agile princess-protector of Hallownest, as she embarks on a brand-new adventure in the mysterious kingdom of Pharloom. Kidnapped and brought to this unfamiliar land, Hornet must fight her way through hordes of new bugs, master new abilities, and uncover the secrets of this silk and song-filled world.

The gameplay looks to be just as tight and challenging as the original, with Hornet’s nimble movements and aerial combat adding a fresh layer to the exploration and boss battles. We’ve seen glimpses of some seriously cool new enemies and environments, and the soundtrack, as expected from Christopher Larkin, sounds absolutely phenomenal.

The wait for Silksong has been a long one, with the game first being revealed way back in 2019. But it looks like Team Cherry is finally ready to unleash Hornet’s adventure upon us. Mark your calendars for Fall 2025 – this is one indie release you definitely won’t want to miss!
